As artists, we should all be familiar with the top and high-end art supply companies such as Derwent, and Faber-Castell. We all love their products and the quality they provide us, but we all know that our budgets can be a bit stretched with these high-end brands, especially as a beginner artist.
So today, I want to introduce you to Pagos Art!
A small-time art supply shop, that offers affordable art supplies, with some great quality and value.
Who is Pagos Art?
Pagos Art is an art supply company based in California, USA.
Pagos quotes “Pagos Art sets out to provide affordable and quality art supplies for artists from different skill levels. To share the joy and wonders of art, Pagos brings you the most useful art materials.”
Pagos supply high-quality art materials for everyone, and are super affordable.
Is Pagos Art Any Good?
Yes.
From a personal standpoint, as an artist myself, I really enjoy the supplies that Pagos provide.
I first came across when they reached out to me on Instagram (see their profile here), and they offered me a trial of their pencils.
One thing I personally love about Pagos, is that not only are their products good, and affordable, they also aim to support the average individual artist, no matter their skill level.
I decided to test out Pagos’ 12 pencil graphite drawing set.
At a cost of just £4.38 ($5.99) you get 12 graphite pencils with a range from 8B to 2H.
In the past, I have trialled Derwents graphite pencils, and Faber-Castell graphite pencils. In fact, as a beginner artist, I would use just about any pencil I could get my hands on. When you start out drawing, you tend not to overthink the value of the pencil ranges and almost always use just an HB, or 2B, but as you progress to an intermediate level, you begin to recognise how valuable these ranges are.
I personally really enjoyed using the Pagos pencils, they had a high quality feel to the graphite as it would rub off onto the paper.
I really enjoyed the feel of the pencils as well.
Some may have noticed that Derwent pencils are extremely light, and you could be afraid it breaks on you, but yet at the same time, you have a trust in them that they are high quality, and they feel premium.
Faber-Castell pencils, feel the exact opposite, they are quite heavy, and seem to consistently have this premium feel to them, and you never doubt it in your hands.
Well Pagos Art’s pencils fall exactly into the middle of both of these, they may be slightly on the light side for my liking, but you don’t doubt the quality of it much, if at all.
They held up really well when sharpening them, and the graphite never broke on me.
