Beyond Instagram: Discovering New Platforms for Creatives in the Digital Age

For creatives who have relied on Instagram as their major platform for a long time, the sensation of its decline is real. The digital world is constantly evolving, and this effect is readily apparent. Many people now believe that Instagram’s algorithm modifications and increased commercialization have hindered their creative expression and visibility. Instagram was once a dynamic place for artists to share their work, interact with colleagues, and launch their careers. Some people believe that this has changed. As we say our goodbyes to the golden days of Instagram, what are the new opportunities that lie ahead for artists in this age of digital technology?

Examining Potential New Platforms

  1. Vero: Vero is the leading contender for visual artists because it is offered as a genuine social network that places an emphasis on the user experience rather than advertisements. With its subscription approach, there are no advertisements and a chronological feed; there are also no algorithms that can influence what your audience sees.
  2. TikTok: TikTok is not just for dancing challenges; it has emerged as a tremendous platform for artists to generate material that is entertaining, short-form, and has the potential to go viral overnight. Its algorithm appears to be advantageous to creative endeavours and has the potential to propel artists from obscurity to stardom.
  3. Patreon: Patreon provides a platform for artists who are looking for financial support directly from their audience. On this platform, artists can develop a community that is built on subscriptions. Patrons of creators can receive a variety of benefits, including early access to special content and other advantages.

In the beginning, ArtStation was intended for game designers, illustrators, and concept artists; however, it has since expanded its scope to include all types of digital art. A marketplace, portfolios, and extensive exposure to industry specialists are all features that are provided by it.

Taking Advantage of Technology
There are new prospects for creatives that are being shaped by developing technology, which go beyond social media.

These technologies are generating new locations for digital art exhibitions and interactive experiences that can reach audiences all over the world without the need for physical galleries. Augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) are two examples of these technologies.

  1. Non-fungible tokens and blockchain: Despite the controversy surrounding blockchain technology, it continues to be an exciting opportunity for artists to sell their work directly, exercise control over their copyrights, and authenticate their pieces. This has the potential to revolutionise the way art is purchased and sold.

Creating a Solid Community
There is one thing that does not change in the ever-changing landscape of social media, and that is the requirement for community. Despite the fact that platforms come and go, the connections that we make have the potential to outlive any one platform. The

cultivation of a community, whether it be through collaborative projects, online forums, or virtual workshops, not only offers support and feedback, but it also has the potential to facilitate the opening of new doors and opportunities.

Final Thoughts
In spite of the fact that Instagram is gradually losing its previous brilliance, the hole that it leaves behind is not a sign of hopelessness but rather a rallying cry for creativity and flexibility. When it comes to creatives, the conclusion of an era on Instagram may very well mark the beginning of a digital art experience that is more genuine and satisfying. Accepting the new tools, constructing more robust communities, and continuing to inspire and be inspired are all things that we should do.
