Summary of The Transfer
Michael Bell’s “Ticket to Ride” is a dramatic series of paintings depicting a woman’s horrific desire for salvation; but, if there’s one thing that might inspire redemption, it’s vengeance.
All About The Transfer
The first of a series of nine, “The Transfer” is a 60″ x 60″ mixed-media painting that has a portrait painted with passion as an allegory, reminiscent of a dramatic film still; a dark, ambiguous image from a hotel room; and a cityscape.
Bell’s narrative goal in Ticket to Ride is to have the audience wonder how much of it is a dream and how much is grounded in reality. The plot revolves around an Italian Femme Fatale’s journey through her mind, which begins on a New York City subway platform in Scene 1 (“The Transfer”) as she waits for her figurative “train,” and continues, painting by painting, like a roller coaster ride.
