Artist Giovanni Bellini depicts a drunken Noah in his painting Drunkenness of Noah. It was completed around the year 1515. It is housed in the Besançon Museum of Fine Arts and Archaeology.
Noah is undressed as he sleeps. The Cup, the clusters of grapes, and the vineyard all indicate that Noah is intoxicated.
This father has three sons, all of whom are present. Shem and Japhet (left and right) cover their father with a red robe and hide their gaze. It’s Ham’s turn to chuckle as he spots his father in his underwear.
Genesis 9:20–23 is quoted in the piece.
