All About Angel of Anarchy by Eileen Agar
The blindfolded Angel of Anarchy is based on a painted plaster head from a long time ago. Agar said that she wanted to make something “totally different, more amazing, powerful, and evil” with this new work. It shows how she felt about the future in the late 1930s, when she was afraid and unsure. Agar wrote that women are the real Surrealists because “the importance of the unconscious in all forms of literature and art establishes the dominance of a feminine type of imagination over the classical and more masculine order.”
